Arrr, gather ’round, matey — for the Falany Performing Arts Center be no ordinary hall with a stage and seats. It be one of Reinhardt University’s crown jewels in Waleska, Georgia: a place where a small mountain-campus community built itself a grand harbor for music, theatre, learning, and memory. The Floyd A. and Fay W. Falany Performing Arts Center opened in 2002, and by its 15th anniversary in 2017, Reinhardt was celebrating it as a major cultural force for both the university and the surrounding community. At that celebration, the concert hall was named Flint Hall in honor of donors Bea and Austin Flint. What makes the Falany so incredible, says I, is that it serves two mighty purposes at once. First, it be a professional-style performance venue bringing live arts to Cherokee County and North Georgia. Second, it be home waters for Reinhardt’s School of Performing Arts, giving students a real stage, real audiences, and a real taste of the craft they’re training for. Reinhardt noted that the center houses the university’s music and communication programs, while another architectural description calls the 50,000-square-foot center a hub for visual and auditory communication with classrooms, practice rooms, a television broadcasting studio, and a grand concert hall. And the performances? Arrr, they’ve not been small potatoes. Over the years, the Falany has hosted names and ensembles such as the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, The Drifters, and the Vienna Boys Choir, while its current programming continues to span Americana, bluegrass, classical, jazz, tribute acts, theatre, and more. Its magic also lies in its size and feel. The hall is known as an intimate venue, with Reinhardt’s own anniversary materials describing a 350-seat concert hall. That means the audience is close enough to feel the breath of a singer, the swell of a string section, and the crackle of live theatre — not lost at sea in some giant arena. The Falany’s mission be broader than entertainment alone. The center says it exists to serve the community and Reinhardt students through quality programming, reasonable prices, strong customer service, and educational experiences. That’s part of what makes it special: it does not merely bring art to people; it tries to make art approachable, local, and welcoming. So here be the heart of it, pirate-style: the Falany is incredible because it turned a quiet college campus in Waleska into a cultural port of call. It gives students a proving ground, gives the community a gathering place, brings world-class and regional talent close to home, and keeps the arts alive not as some faraway treasure, but as something folks can walk into, sit down for, and feel in their bones.
May 16, 2026 · Google ReviewI come to the Falany Performing Arts Center for 2 reasons throughout the year. For the Woodstock School of Ballet's performance of the nutcracker and for piano recitals. In both instances, the auditorium is clean and the stage is well set. The decor on and off stage is well-kept. Bathrooms have always been clean and fully stocked even during peak Nutcracker show hours. The lobby has plenty of space for smooth travel even with a large crowd. And recently a cute photo opportunity area has been placed that is perfect for a quick photo with the performer and family on your way out the door.
