Native Umbrella Magnolia trees dominate several sections of this trail and give it a tropical feel. The clear-cut areas are great for birding- we heard the rising scale call of prairie warblers as well as red eyed vireos and more common birds. The Boy Scout troops have done an excellent job with the bridges. A beautiful hike on a cool day, but in warmer weather I’d watch closely for bugs and snakey friends.
May 9, 2022 · Google ReviewCCSWA and U.S. GSA land off the beaten path. Parking for 6-8 cars and only 2 cars when visiting on a Sunday around 1:00. Didn't pass anyone on the green loop trail which was well marked as was a white and orange trail. I would image this place is rarely crowded so if you like a bit of seclusion for hiking with your dogs it is recommended. The trails are a little hilly but manageable. A few trees had fallen across the green loop but all but one was cut and cleared. Seems to be well maintained and plan to go back when it is not so hot and humid. Bring some off spray if it that season. I didn't walk far enough to access the river for the dogs but will take a different path next time.

Mar 23, 2026 · Google ReviewBe warned this is a WMA and people may be shooting guns right off the trail. I didn’t realize this at first and was quickly reminded by several shotgun blasts and raining pellets (squirrel hunting) With that being said, this place is a true slice of nature and seems to go on forever. I look forward to getting lost out here on several fishing trips.
Feb 8, 2025 · Google ReviewA well maintained trail system. A new bridge was just installed at T10. They're moving the white trail a bit to make a hill a bit easier with a couple of switch-backs.
